Social and Community Service Needs Survey

As part of its strategic planning exercise, the Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre’s objective is to gain a better knowledge of the needs of the community regarding its social and community services. The public is invited to fill a short questionnaire in support of this approach. Those who fill out the questionnaire are eligible to win one of two gift certificates valued at $100 from Sobeys grocery store.

The public has to fill out the questionnaire online at http://app.fluidsurveys.com/surveys/axion2/croc/langeng/ <http://app.fluidsurveys.com/surveys/axion2/croc/langeng/> before May 25 to be eligible for the draw, which will be held on June 15, 2012.

Vars Farmers Market on Hold

Due to lack of volunteers and management availability, at its April meeting, the Vars Community Association decided to put a proposal for a community farmers market on hold. The proposal will be reviewed again this fall. Until then, residents are invited to submit their comments and possibly their names as volunteers to info@vars.ca.

Community Garden – Vars – Jardin Communautaire

We are please to announce that the City of Ottawa has approved funding for a potential community garden to be located on the City’s vacant lot located on Centre Street in the heart of our village. While details of the land and funding agreements are still to be completed, the VCA will start planning the management of this community poject in the weeks to come. Should you be interested in participating in the elaboration of this project or wish to add your name to the list of potential growers, just send us a note at info@vars.ca.

Nous sommes fiers d’annoncer que la Ville d’Ottawa a approuvé une subvention pour la possibilité de créer un jardin communautaire à être localisé sur le terrain vacant de la Ville situé sur la rue Centre, au coeur de notre village. Bien que les détails des accords du terrain et de la subvention sont toujours à être complétés, l’ACV commencera à planifier la gestion de ce projet communautaire dans les prochaines semaines.
